After a great day out in the mountains, Chamonix is not short of lively night life with superb regional cuisine and live music at the local bars.
There are numerous cafés in the valley with excellent drinks and delicious snacks. In the summer you can soak up the sun on sunny terraces and sip a latte or have an aperitif. Take your laptop with you as many cafes have wifi connections available. If you are in Argentiere try the Office Sports Bar & Ristopub.
In central Chamonix try Elevation 1080 opposite the railway station where you can soak up the sun under Mont Blanc and sample a range of light sandwiches or burgers with a café au lait or a cold Demi.
Enjoy is a new internet café and snack bar opposite Bar’d Up, beside the river. Offering a range of hot and cold drinks, freshly made salads and delicious ciabatta sandwiches, it’s the perfect spot for a quick bite to eat while you check your e-mails.
Café Lavancher is one of the valley's hidden treasures and is well worth a visit. Frequented by locals and mountain lovers alike, you will find the food and atmosphere truly unique. Located in the village of Le Lavancher on the way up the valley from Chamonix to Argentiere.
CHA CHA CHA offers a new concept in Chamonix of wine tasting. It is a recently renovated modern wine merchant situated at the end of the main street in Chamonix centre.
They offer wine tasting evenings for 15€ where you can sample the likes of Bordeaux versus Bourgogne, Les Champagnes, Les Whiskies and more! Visit them to pick up the latest tasting schedule .

French Cusine: Le Serac taste specialities from Haute Savoie as well as a traditional cuisine like fondue, raclette and meaty delights located right in the centre of town.
Italian Restaurants: Casa Valerio is lively and popular with classic pizza/pasta combinations. It is a short walk from the centre square on Rue Lyret.
An alternative is La Spiga d'Oro - an Italian delicatessen and restaurant that serves top quality Italian produce. La Spiga prepares their own fresh antipasti, pasta and sauces and has a wonderful selection of Italian cheeses and hams.
Pub Food & Burgers: The MBC (Micro Brasserie de Chamonix) is the Chamonix Micro-Brewery where locals and visitors rendez-vous to enjoy great beer and pub-food classics such as nachos, fajitas, chicken wings and burgers and fries.
Restaurant les Rhododendrons is a lovely place for lunch or an early dinner. Offering omelettes, pizzas, paninis, burgers, and even tartiflette. Located in Les Praz just at the base of the Flegere telecabine.
International Cuisine: Le Delice If you are staying in Les Houches (link to local resorts) this holiday this restaurant combines a brasserie style menu from sandwiches and soup at lunch to a fusion of cuisines in the evening.
Le Munchie known as Munchies is a super cool restaurant attracting a cosmopolitan crowd on the Rue de Moulins that will delight your taste buds with Asian-Fusion food.
Alan Peru is a chic modern restaurant, great for relaxing in. It offers an Asian fusion menu with big bowls of noodles that can be accompanied by French or New World wines located on the main street of Cham Sud.
Satsuki is our Japanese restaurant of choice. Just a short walk from the town square you can enjoy classic dishes of Sashimi, Sushi, Tempura served to you by friendly Japanese staff.
La Cantina is the longest established Mexican restaurant in Chamonix. Serving the usual burritos, tacos and fajitas in a lively themed dining area. After dinner if you fancy a dance head downstairs to the Cantina Club that hosts a number of live DJ’s and bands.
Annapurna is a small, family-run, curry house offering authentic Indian curries located on the Ave Ravanel le Rouge.
Take-away & Eating at Home
If you want to grab a quick bite on the run there are some great take-away options around town.
Poco Loco and Midnight Express are two take-away joints in the centre of town and frequently visited in the late hours of the night after being on the booze! They offer hot and cold sandwiches, wraps, burgers and crepes.
Belouga offers similar food, burgers being the main focus located at the end of town near Zero G
From late night dance clubs to cozy pubs Chamonix’s nightlife and entertainment extends throughout the valley from Argentiere (link) to Les Houches (link)offering something for everyone. Many of the bars in the valley are also full service restaurants and often have live music as well as show major sporting events on television. To celebrate a great day on the slopes there is nothing better than a few après ski drinks with friends and family. Happy Hours and great live bands and DJs.
Bar Le Dérapage – Located right in the town square, this cozy underground bar is a great spot to grab a well deserved drink. Dérapage has built its reputation as a chilled hangout for those who enjoy unpretentious atmosphere. The new Caverne offers the bar more space and is a great spot to try your vocal skills on the Karaoke machine. The Dérapage is open all year round and is available for all events, private parties, and theme nights also hosting nights of live music and the occasional spontaneous party. Drop in this summer to watch live sports matches on SKY and enjoy a refreshing drink.
Chambre Neuf – Is well known in Chamonix for its vibrant, lively après crowds. With its live music the fun starts early and has a reputation to continue through to the early hours of the morning with dancing on tables!
Monkey – Located in Cham Sud this is a popular spot for locals, seasonaires and visitors alike. Live bands and DJs each day are accompanied by a range of happy hours throughout from evening to late night.
La Terrasse - La Terrasse is probably Chamonix's most central bar that hosts several popular live music evenings a week during winter, and there is an upstairs bar which serves as a lounge and cocktail bar. As it is in a sunny and convenient location La Terrasse is often busy during apres-ski.
Bar’d Up - Bar'd Up is a small and relaxed hang-out on the Rue de Moulins. This is a chilled out bar that features regular live music and DJ’s. They regularly screen English football matches, and when there’s no sport on the TV, you can play a game of pool or table football.
Le Vert - It is well worth making the effort to visit Le Vert on the outskirts of town (Les Gaillands). They host some International DJ’s offering a mix of music styles and often have original concept nights. During the day, you’ll find the latest mountain sports videos and live sporting events playing on a projector and huge plasma screen. You can also choose from a range of tasty bar snacks and meals such as ribs, burgers and a good old Sunday roast.
The Office Bar – Located in Argentiere a great spot for après ski after skiing Le Grand Montets, The Office Bar has lots to offer! Loads of live Sports, SKY TV, 3 big screens,live bands, DJs, bar snacks, special events and the warm and friendly atmosphere that can't be beaten!
Le Rusticana – Located in Argentiere “The Rusty” is popular with locals and tourists. It is Argentiere's coziest bar and restaurant. A great spot to meet friends for an apres-ski snack, a delicious meal, a pint of Guinness or a cocktail or two.
Chamonix is a popular stopping point for many famous international guest DJs, French national and international DJs as well as occasionally top UK DJs. Many of Chamonix’s bars are open until 2am but there are special nights when the party continues and also two main nightclubs open till past 4am.
MIX Bar - Mix is a new bar in the Rue de Moulins, run by a couple of brothers better known as The Hoax - a DJ act who also play here on a regular basis. Not surprisingly, this DJ bar has a cool vibe, with a modern and funky interior, and groovy tunes to sway to.
La Cantina: As 'the' home of Chamonix's underground music scene, it's situated in a narrow side street just past Super U. This club has a reputation for holding some of Chamonix's best dance nights. La Cantina regularly brings in DJ's from around the world, as well as several local bands, throwing into the mix a loud selection of hip-hop, drum n bass and dub, making the small but highly-charged club go off until the early ours.
Le Garage - Le Garage is Chamonix's largest nightclub and melting pot for all the late night (sometimes all-night) party-goers. Situated on the outskirts of Chamonix Sud, the club is very popular with the French, Scandinavians and British from all over town. Throughout the week Le Garage plays host to a number of theme nights with internationally recognised DJ's.

The main super market in Chamonix is the Super U on Rue Joseph Vallot, short walk from the town square. It is open Monday – Saturday 8:15am till 7.30pm and Sunday 8:30 till 12pm.
There are other smaller supermarkets around central Chamonix called Le Petit Casino and Spar (in Cham Sud).
In Les Houches there is a Super U that usually provides cheaper produce than the central Chamonix store.
