Chamonix is not just limited to its extreme outdoor sporting activities you can keep your family amused with a range of fun indoor places to visit. From the cinema to the casino you can find enjoyment even on the rainy days.

When you arrive in Chamonix if you don’t feel like walking around the town you can take the Le Petit Train for a guided tour, soaking up the history of Chamonix’s historic monuments, architecture, sports and panoramic views. Jump on it at any of these locations Place Balmat, Aiguille du Midi cable car, SNCF mainline railway station, and Montenvers station.

The Cinema Vox in central Chamonix plays the latest films from all around the world in English and French. Check their schedule for the latest airing.

The Alpine Museum in Chamonix provides an interesting history of the valley. On two floors there is a fascinating range of exhibits covering the geological and human history of Chamonix. You can also take a day trip to Sallanches to visit the Mountain Nature Center .

For the artesian amongst you the Galerie du Globe in Argentiere exhibits many local and famous artists. In central Chamonix the Galerie Paul Linegaland  displays works by original and contemporary artists. Further afield, the well known Pierre Gianadda Art Gallery in Martigny is excellent.

Paradis des Praz is a great spot to take your children where they can enjoy Pony Rides and more. To get here from Les Praz you can walk along the Promenade du Paradis des Praz following the river l’Arve (behind the golf course).

If you need to off load your children to spend some quality adult time during your holiday, Le Petit VIP offers art & crafts and other activities for children.  Reserve a place for your child with Lepetitvip who have supervised Arts & Crafts sessions Monday to Friday morning and afternoon in the beautiful Bouchet woodlands near the tennis courts. Whilst you take yourself off for a hike in the beautiful settings we will keep your child entertained and help develop their creative side! Places are limited so please send an e-mail to or look at for further information. Wednesday sessions until 30th June. Summer sessions Mon-Fri from Tuesday 13th July until Tuesday 31st August.
